Reaching The Unreached

The Asian continent suffers from high inequalities in the health sector. Many rural communities remain completely deprived of healthcare. In the least developed countries of Asia, there is on average one doctor per 1000 inhabitants. In a 2021 report, the International Labour Organization stated that 1.6 billion Asians do not have access to social health protection, even though more than three quarters of the population are legally entitled to it. There are many reasons for this lack of coverage: administratively fragmented countries, mountainous regions difficult to access, precarious populations unable to pay for medical care... A vicious circle is established, in which isolated populations have no access to the treatments that are often rightfully theirs. This film will follow the everyday doctor heroes on their journey. The stakes are high: the caregivers have to save their patients while learning to deal with the difficulties of the trip, both on land, in air, and on water.
