Mabel Lim (Flora Chan) is a free-spirited Child Welfare Officer who believes in bringing up a child using contemporary methods. Conflicts arise when she places 15 year-old Xiao Cai under the care of the Wong family. Mrs Wong (Zhu Mimi) manages her household with tyranny and age old rules, contradicting Mabel's modern approach to raising a child. As more foster children are placed under the care of the authoritative Mrs Wong, Mabel becomes increasingly concerned about the physical and psychological well-being of these children. And is there a soft side beneath Mrs Wong's hard and no-nonsense veneer? "Like My Own" is a heartwarming story about a mother's love for kids who aren't her own and the sacrifices that she's willing to make in order to protect them.
