Rewilding Sharks

For 400 million years, sharks ruled the oceans. But 50 years of overfishing has brought many species to the edge of extinction. Now, 100 million sharks are killed annually.

In Raja Ampat, Indonesia, a glimmer of hope emerges. Locals and scientists join ReShark, a global partnership, to launch a captive breeding program.

The journey begins with zebra sharks, bred in Sydney and transported 8,000 kilometers to Raja Ampat. Charlie, the first reintroduced zebra shark, defies odds and thrives.
