Boxing Day 2004 – A colossal earthquake triggers a massive tsunami that surges across the Indian Ocean, killing hundreds of thousands. The fates of communities in 14 countries are intertwined by that one event, altering them forever. The survivors not only mourn lost loved ones, homes and livelihoods, but also grapple with rebuilding their lives from the ruins. Twenty years on, this documentary revisits the tsunami-stricken communities to explore the enduring impact of the disaster which continues to reverberate across these societies today. As survivors confront their memories of the tragedy, and their arduous journey pushing against the tide towards recovery, they reflect on the waves of change that have shaped their lives over the past two decades.
