At the heart of an old, quiet neighbourhood lies a mystical mirror that was once a simple paper effigy crafted by Uncle Liang, the paper offerings shopkeeper. 

The paper mirror is accidentally brought to life with Uncle Liang’s own blood and drifts between the hands of the other neighbourhood shop owners guarding their dying trades: a roadside barber who glimpses his customers’ memories and seeks to heal his relationship with his daughter; a second-hand bookseller fighting to preserve his grandfather’s legacy; a hawker torn between continuing his family’s Kacang Puteh tradition and chasing reinvention; and a fortune-teller whose parakeet helps a little girl mend her fractured family. 

The mirror ultimately returns to Uncle Liang, whose own secret that he is a paper effigy brought to life forces him to confront the impermanence of his existence and the sorrow of soon losing his young disciple, Cheng, bound to the same fragile fate.
