During the Ming dynasty, selected orphans were trained in cruel and clandestine combat since childhood to serve the Ming government’s secret service, the Jin Yi Wei (Embroidered Uniform Guard). Qinglong is the commander who reports to the imperial eunuch Jia Jingzhong. Jingzhong is plotting a rebellion with the Emperor’s uncle Prince Qing. He tricks Qinglong into retrieving a box that contains the Imperial Seal, which will help legitimize Prince Qing’s right to rule.

In a twist of events, Qinglong is accused of being the traitor. He makes an alliance with an unlikely group of bandits, the Heaven’s Eagle Gang and an escaped bride Qiao Hua. With all the odds against him, will Qinglong be able to thwart Prince Qing’s plan and save the Emperor?
