When Titans Clash

When Titans Clash S13 - China’s plan to create industries of the future

China is making a huge bet on futuristic industries. Its latest Five-Year Plan targets six frontier industries that Beijing believes could transform the world: brain-computer interfaces, embodied AI, quantum technology, biomanufacturing, 6G, hydrogen and nuclear fusion.

We meet people using Chinese bionic limbs controlled by neural signals and see a paralysed patient operate a robot dog with his thoughts. We enter China's giant science facilities, explore quantum computers that could one day break today's encryption, and visit the “artificial sun” pursuing virtually limitless fusion energy. We see glowing plants, bioprinted human organoids and humanoid robots being trained to work alongside people. China is trying to build the industries that will define our future, will it succeed?
