Beating The Heat
Across Asia, extreme heat is reshaping everyday life, changing how people learn, work and rest. Beating the Heat follows communities and experts testing practical ways to protect homes, schools and neighbourhoods as temperatures rise.
The first episode explores local responses, from early-warning systems and cooler public spaces to urban farms and buildings designed for shade and airflow. Each story begins with lived experience and asks whether one solution can grow beyond a single pilot or community.
The second widens the lens from households and neighbourhoods to city- and national-level action. Across classrooms, homes and urban landscapes, it examines how clean energy, passive cooling, green spaces and new technology can protect people without adding to the emissions heating the planet.
As the region warms, can cities adapt without leaving their most vulnerable residents behind?
