Where The Heart Belongs 心有所依

As society enters a super-aging phase, the ‘Housing and Senior Affairs Board’ (HSAB) is set up in ‘I’deal City’ (a fictional city) to introduce new housing policies, including the prohibition of singles buying public housing and allowing the adoption of single elderly.

When Mingzhen (Denise Camillia Tan), a HSAB employee, discovers that her fiancé is cheating on her, she adopts 73-year-old Ou Shengde (Zhu Houren) to not lose the deposit on their apartment. However, their differing routines and opposing personalities spark constant clashes after moving in together.

Mingzhen’s school senior, Si Tu Ziyang (Romeo Tan) works as a HSAB consultant in the matchmaking department, helping the elderly find spouses. His kind nature leads him to adopting the elderly with failed matches and he ends up adopting 70-year-old Li Xunkai (Yao Wen Long) who recently lost his son to join his two other adoptive mothers.

Ziyang and Mingzhen run into each other at work, and Mingzhen seeks Ziyang’s advice regarding Shengde. Ziyang tries to help Mingzhen and Shengde resolve their conflicts and improve their relationship. In the process, he starts developing feelings for Mingzhen.

However, Xunkai files a complaint against Ziyang, accusing him of adopting the elderly only for their insurance payouts, and it leads to Ziyang becoming the subject of a police investigation.Meanwhile, Mingzhen’s biological father is discovered to be alive and an ex-convict. This raises question about why Mingzhen adopted a stranger and abandoned her biological father.
